Online influencer or buzzer was used to refer a person who had a twitter account with thousands followers and deemed as influential. However, today circumstances has challenged this definition. The uproar of 2012 Jakarta Gubernatorial Election has changed Twitter landscape in Indonesia dramatically. Those two political events show how huge the potential power of online influencer or buzzer in shaping social media conversation. As more interests entering the field, defining the “buzzer(s)” and its context is of paramount importance to properly respond this phenomenon.
This study attempts to unfold the works of buzzer in four features:
1. Identification of the buzzers
2. Operation of the buzzer
3. The influence of the buzzers
4. Consequence of the buzzers
