The study conducted by PIRAC – Public Interest Research and Advocacy Center (2016) finds that the private sector has great potential in providing funding for research. Although the initial findings are promising, it seems that a comprehensive data on the universe of research funding from private sector is not yet available. Moreover, the identification of challenges, especially policy challenges that might hinder the use of research funding from private sector are also not available as yet.

The research aims to look at the current development of research funding from private sector in Indonesia as well as maps the funding scheme available.
